Description: This is an awesome example of the iconic Airstream Bambi. The original 1961-1963 Airstream Bambi is recognized as an outstanding example of form and function and the Museum of Modern Art in NYC have included this exact model in the permanent collection. Our 1962 Bambi has the original floor plan and vintage esthetic and has not been customized or “updatedâ€ as many vintage Airstreams have. This trailer has been featured in calendars and several newspaper articles and is the subject matter for a series of paintings. It was awarded First Place at the Concour’s d’ Elegance, TCT annual event in 2013. It was awarded Best Bambi at the WBCCI International Convention as well.
The classic Bambi is one of the most collectable of vintage Airstreams because its light weight and small size that make it the perfect candidate for being towed with a vintage vehicle or a small car. This model has hot and cold running water, a large fresh water tank and a blackwater tank. The Bambi has all the features of its Airstream siblings including a shower and furnace. The 1962 model year was the last year produced when Wally Byam was still alive and thus referred to as a “heritage trailer.
The original one piece Dometic Princess cooktop and refrigerator are in pristine condition and work perfectly. The sink and furnace are also original. The systems that have been upgraded to improve performance are not seen and do not take away from the original charm of the unit. This includes the PEX plumbing, Shur FLo pump and Intelligent charging system and fuse box. All cushions/beds have been replaced with high density quality foam and professionally upholstered. The drapes have also been professionally replaced. The interior is bright and clean with all hinges and clasps working perfectly. There is a Fantastic Fan with rain sensor fitted with a silver/grey lid to maintain the vintage profile outside while improving the usability of the trailer. There is a folding vintage table included that stores inside the large closet. There is also a never-been-used spare tire included as well as all the water and sewer hoses and couplings needed. We have a custom made rope awing and matching chairs that are also part of the package.
All in all, this is a completely functional vintage Airstream Bambi that has been polished to a mirror finish and ready to turn heads at any show or campground in the country. It is conveniently located one hour from Port Huron Michigan, and two hours from Buffalo NY or Detroit MI. More photos are available if needed.
